The LIMS module has robust query functionality based on structured query language (SQL), and is used to look at your data in a flat-file representation of the underlying relational database model. Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) functionality built into NAPIS is applied to the tracking of biomass or other samples as they are distributed or consumed by processing.

The Inventory / Submit / Receive (ISR) features are designed to track the transmittal of sample quantities between your organization and outside organizations. If you query Inventory to prepare a group of samples to send, you may then Submit the samples via a formal transmittal. You may also Receive samples transmitted from an outside organization into your own sample bank.

In contrast, the Work Order feature is designed to manage internal processing within your organization.

The Plate Viewer allows you to see which plates have been registered to NAPIS.
